Končno smo imeli malo odmora, tri dni smo si privoščili, saj smo bili pred tem v Mehiki. Sicer je bilo res kul in simpatično, veliko potujemo, koncerti so super.

In še vedno jo delava.

Nov album sta izdala v začetku leta.

Original:

After two concert in Ljubljana, young musicians, Sophie and Marco from Vienna, known as Leyya, are returning to Ljubljana for the third time. Experimental electronics and songwriting found a new path together, which couple is presenting on stage in ambiental mood.  Before  the concert in Kino Šiška we talked to Sophie, who told us about new album, views to music and other experiences.

Hi, Sophie, how are you?

I’m fine, thanks.

How’s been in the past days, you’ve been on tour right now, how has it been?

We finally had three days of free time because we were in Mexico before that, so now we needed a bit of a break. But otherwise it has been really nice, we’ve been travelling a lot and concerts were really nice.

After being in Ljubljana two times already, you’re returning with some new music. Are you excited to return here?

I really like it, city is very beautiful. It was always very nice to play there. But sadly I’m always there just  for a concert and leaving the next day, and this time it will be the same so I have to come personally once to look at the city.

How did you find yourself and make a duo?

We’ve come from same city in Austria, a very small town, so we’ve known each other since we were young and hanging together for a long time. We’ve always liked the same music, we’ve been in a couple of rock bands before as we were young. When we went to Vienna to study we decided to do music together, we kind of had the same vision. We’ve wanted to do music while we worked and did other stuff but we always said that now is the right time. And we still continue to do it.

Your sound is very clear and recognizable, was that decided upfront or has it come spontainously?

It’s very spontanious. Music cannot be forced, it is always some time and space behind it. Marco was doing very heavy electronic music and I started as singer and songwriter, so we decided to put those to genres together. Our first music was literally a combination of both. And it still is. At some point we just developed a sound together and this was Leyya. I think if a style is decided before, music is always unauthentic and we wanted to do our music as it is, to keep that authenticity.

New album was published earlier this year. According to a title, you tried to take us into warmness of music in cold days, was that the aim of the album?

As I said before, music is always a spontanous result, so it hadn’t had any aim. We just made music, after that people always ask you what’s the story behind it, so you always imagine something that you wanted to tell with it. Sauna for us is a place where people are naked and pure cause  they are all the same. We wanted  to tell that with an album and as well titles of the songs. To present every person as other person and tell there is no difference between people.

I have a standard question … if you could have played with anyone live, who would that be?

Hmm, that’s actually a very hard question. I think I wouldn’t pick one person. I would actually love to perform with someone from some completely different culture. Performing their folk music, other rythms, other sounds, to experience something new. Maybe something like Columbian or Indian music, something that has totally different feelings.

Any message for Radio Terminal?

Stop by tomorrow for a concert if you like our music, maybe follow us and our future work, enjoy and see you! Thank you all for support and for an interview.
